米格尔卡斯特罗 was beginning his shift as a garbage collector when a car hit him, an accident that left him a double amputee. One of his customers found him and called 911, saving Castellanos' life. Less than a year after his accident, he is walking on prosthetic legs, guided and supported by the team at the UCSF 矫正器 & 假肢中心.

It's a change for Castellanos, who used to regularly walk 5 to 7 miles around San Francisco to relax after stressful days at work. His goal is to do that again, 但现在, 他说, "Even if I walk for a hundred meters, that's enough for me to feel good about myself." Here, he talks about his dedication to recovery.
